How to choose your laptop and Tablet

Today, the number of 13 or 14 ”models is very extensive. This is because they offer the right compromise between the portability of an 11 “model and the comfort of a 15”.

However, it is really difficult to find a guarantee model. Therefore, here are 6 great points to keep in mind:

  • Material quality : the most normal thing is to find plastic or aluminum housings. The first is cheaper, but it is usually synonymous with low quality (check if the plastic is solid and resistant). As for the aluminum ones, they are usually much more solid, but also more expensive.
  • The display : you will spend literally hundreds or thousands of hours looking at your screen, therefore, it is advisable that the screen has at least a definition of 1,366 x 768 pixels with a size of 10 to 13 inches. Starting at 13 ”, a definition of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels is desirable to obtain a clear image in all circumstances. Also check the maximum luminosity, fidelity and colorimetry.
  • The keyboard : just as a good screen is important to have a good visualization,  also a great motherboards good keyboard is essential to be able to enter data on your computer. In fact, you will probably spend hundreds of hours typing, therefore it is important that it is of good quality and allows for a pleasant and comfortable typing.
  • Performance : it is important that your PC is complete in terms of components (processor, graphics card …) to allow it to perform its tasks correctly. It is useless to economize by opting for cheaper components, if these then do not measure up to what you want to do with it or vice versa. If you want your PC to work more “heavy” (graphics,  gaming , etc.), we recommend taking a look at the  laptops for graphic design
  •   or  notebook PC  gamer .
  • The Components : The choice of components (CPU, GPU, RAM) should depend on your needs. For office use, the PC will not be powerful enough for gaming, and vice versa, it would be useless to invest more. Anyway, it is important that the configuration is  balanced  (for example, a Core i7 processor will not be able to run at full power with 4 GB of RAM).
  • Mobility : this type of computer is often used as a work tool compared to desktop PCs. The weight and autonomy of your computer are very important. If you transport it almost every day, opt for a model of less than 2kg and with a minimum autonomy of 8 hours.

How to choose your tablet?

If the enthusiasm for tablets reached its peak a few years ago, it must be noted that, since 2016, it has been declining.

In this way, the market is less saturated with new outlets, but each one of them brings its “batch” of novelties.

Here is a list of criteria to consider before making the purchase:

  • The size : a small tablet will be more easily transportable, it will enjoy greater autonomy and vice versa, but the important thing is the screen and the use it will give it (it can vary between 7-12 inches).
  • The resolution : the image quality will depend on the resolution. At the same size, the entry-level models will have lower quality definitions than the higher-end models. Full HD has become the norm. Also check the brightness, contrast and colorimetry.
  • Storage capacity : whoever keeps e-books will not need as much space as the one who stores photos, much less movies. Even for office use, we recommend a minimum 32GB model. You should know that the operating system and pre-installed applications are already taking some of the memory. In addition, some tablets allow you to expand the available memory through a microSD card.
  • The autonomy : since the tablet, by definition, is designed for nomadic use, the question of the battery is obviously important. Note that the advertised autonomy does not count for intensive use of the tablet. If the battery lasts between 8-10 hours, it is considered that the autonomy is good.
  • Connectivity : at this point, check the type of connection possible (Wifi, Bluetooth and 4G) depending on your needs or requirements: USB, Micro-USB or USB-C, lightning cable (to connect the pen), an SD Port o MicroSD for memory, an HDMI port (to connect to another display), a headphone port or jack connector (for sound) and an NFC chip (for contactless payments).

You also have to check the operating system:

  • iPadOS (Apple) : very intuitive and with regular updates, it presents a very complete store adapted to its use. It has more productivity options than Android.
  • Android (Google) : it is the most used system. It offers a large number of applications and has the particularity of being completely customizable.
  • Windows (Microsoft) : has adapted the PC operating system for tablets. It is potentially good if you work with Windows functions.
